Warragul Cycling Club official statement on the Baw Baw Classic postponement.

It is with great disappointment that the Warragul Cycling Club will once again be postponing what was to be the 20th edition of the Baw Baw Classic due to have taken place 13 November.

After three years of forced cancelations, due to COVID and landslides, the club finds themselves again with the difficult decision to postpone.

Due to lack of volunteers to deliver the event with the high safety expectations the event prides itself on, along with the ever-increasing challenge of securing sponsorship funds to cover the event costs it has left the club with no option other than to postpone.

The Warragul Cycling Club is committed to hosting the 20th Anniversary of the event and wants to ensure the event continues to be a part of the Victorian Road Series in 2023. The 20th Anniversary of the Baw Baw Classic should be a celebration and recognition of the many years the club has delivered such a wonderful event. The club wants to ensure it is a special day.

Postponing gives more time to secure sponsorship and plan other community activities to coincide with the event now scheduled for Sunday 19 March 2023.
